In 2017, a concept for the prestressing arch system for conventional bored tunnels was created by the partners of GSR Spannring GmbH and a patent was applied for even before the first installation attempt.<\/p>\n
The idea arose out of years of experience in reinforcement designs and their implementation in tunnel construction. The prestressing arch or prestressing ring system was intended to replace the elaborate work with support arches or lattice girders. The system would offer the steel fixer a precisely positioned installation level. Each ring was to be measured by means of a tunnel measuring system. In this way, subsequent costs for renovation of the inner shell due to non-compliance with the concrete cover were to be reduced to a minimum. That was the theory.<\/p>\n
The first practical field test proved to be a complete success. In late 2018, an order was promptly received from the \u201cSTRABAG Consortium\/Salini Impregilo\u201d for the contract section H33 Tulfes\/Pfons of the Brenner basis tunnel.<\/p>\n
